What was this event about?
"A Night of the Arts" is our 2nd Annual Fundraiser for
Dunamis Community Advocate Services (DCAS)!

DCAS mission is to be an advocate of change within the community by guiding students on how to ignite their power within so they may transform mentally, emotionally, socially, educationally, and spiritually while overcoming life obstacles!

We hosted this event to raise awareness of our cause & funds to support our school year round mentoring program!

Why "A Night of the Arts?"
"The mentees within our mentoring program face serious life obstacles that have a critical impact on their mind, behaviors, emotions, social relationships, educational goals, and spiritual beliefs . In our program, we provide coaching so that they can overcome these obstacles, but one resource they ALL rely on is their love for the arts. Our mentees use their pain for their power through art, dance, poetry, music, and much more!

So I decided to reunite with my talented sisters and fellow University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign alumni to showcase the impact that art has on the live of our youth!" -Ariel Fuller, Executive Director
We enjoyed food, drinks, and entertainment by...
Danielle Harth is a visual artist that believes in the amazing power that art has in reflecting internal thoughts and influencing how people interpret the world. Art is linked to identity, history, productive thinking, and it is a way of communicating and expressing emotion. She is an Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified School Psychologist and School Counselor. Danielle draws artistic influence from a multitude of artists, artistic styles, and life experiences. Her painting abilities range from live painting, narrative art, landscape, portraiture, abstraction, to murals.
Yanna is a classically trained but trapfully raised cellist of 17 years from the south side of Chicago. Performing nationwide since the age of 13 and recently featured on WCIU’s The Jam and other media outlets such as ABC7 Chicago, NBC News, WFMT Radio, WTTW Chicago, NAACP’s Crisis Magazine, Ebony Magazine, and Windy City Live. She breaks away from the strict classical mold and paves her own path which incorporates her love for trap, rap, hip hop, reggae, and R&B with the classical remnants of composers such as Bach, Haydn, and Brahms. Her aim is to heal Chicago, and eventually the world, one note at a time!
Abril is an Educator by day and Spoken Word Artist by night! She loves using her strong voice to inspire generations from within.

"We pencil in wrong directions, and forget to erase, like dirty chalk, the negative remains of influences that impact our lives. But I intend for my passion to be like the ink that can never be erased and my determination, as the chalkboard, for all to see."- Abril Green
